A form of godliness

In Isaiah 28:13, God said, “these people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far away from me.” Had me thinking, “how close is my heart to God, am I just a christian in public and am I walking in alignment to the word?”

I have seen many Christians publicly display christian-like behaviour but are lacking spiritual strength and maturity. And I’ve also seen many Christians display power, heal the sick, speak in tongues, all evidence of the Holy Spirit and of spiritual maturity but won’t spit on you if you are on fire.

If I’m not mistaken, to be a christian is to be Christ like, imitators of Jesus. Do you know how hard it is to imitate someone who did not sin? It is painful, the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. And that is why it is called suffering. To suffer with him is to reign with him right? So why aren’t we willing to suffer, endure like good soldiers in order to reap an eternally blessed harvest? Or be willing to circumcise our flesh, and burn our fleshly desires?

To be carnally minded is death. This death or separation from the father is no joke. He is the vine and we are the branches. Imagine yourself separated from your root and source! Oh how tragic! You will just wither away or be like the chaff in the wind!!

So the opposite of death is obviously life. And that’s why Jesus died, for us to have life. And the only way we can live abundantly is if we walk in the spirit. Forget what your physical eyes are seeing. Paul prayed for the eyes of our understanding to be enlightened. Once they are opened and you have that revelation of Christ, it is essential to renew your minds daily as well as pray without ceasing.

” The things I don’t want to do, that I keep on doing!” – Appostle Paul
Your flesh wants to be what the spirit is to you. And when you walk according to the flesh, it attempts to imitate the intimacy you should be having with Jesus.

Yes the flesh is weak but greater is he that is within! We don’t want to be known as hypocrites or shady. Don’t have a form of godliness. Be the light and salt of the earth. There must be a difference between believers and non believers. Don’t conform to what everyone is doing but be transformed by the renewing of the mind. Be a christian in public and in private! Let people say, ah yes, he/she is certainly a christian.

And how can sin have dominion over us if we are under grace? Grace helps us not to sin. For where sin abounds, grace abounds much more.

How tragic would it be to hear, “depart from me you worker of iniquity”, when you have been casting out demons in Jesus name! Let’s all strive to hear, “well done, good and faithful servant”. Don’t let your sins testify against you.
